Arcade machines were developed as coin operated machines programmed with games to play for fun once the appropriate coin is dropped in the slot.
Popularity with the machines grew in late 1930s with the first few coin operated pinball machines.
Through passing decades the games became better, and by the late 60’s, arcade games started becoming really more amazing and fun.
The video arcade games phenomenon started with the introduction of Pong in early 1970s, which became the first commercially-successful game. Everyone loved it.
